Dr Stefan Phang

Global Director, Sustainability & Creating Shared Value, Solenis

Stefan Phang is a strong advocate of CSV – Creating Shared Value – by addressing societal needs with a business model. He specializes in helping needy communities create sustainable livelihood programs to lift them out of poverty.Currently, Stefan leads over 150 active projects in over 50 countries, mostly projects on child protection, anti-human trafficking, livelihood programs, and disaster relief and rehabilitation. He is a creator of Soap For Hope™, Linens For Life™, CofffeeBriques, and PlasticShreds.

In addition to the CSV work, Stefan speaks at various regional conferences highlighting the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change, focusing on the “S” in ESG and how businesses can help mitigate these urgent needs faced by many regions in the world today.

Stefan has a Bachelor’s (Honours) Degree in Microbiology (1992) and a Master’s Degree in Molecular Epidemiology (1995) from the National University of Singapore. In 2024, he was conferred Doctor of Business Administration by the European Institute of Management & Technology, Switzerland.

He is a Child Protection Advocate accredited with the International Child Protection Network (ICPN) for Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. In 2014, he was awarded the UK Crown’s Medal for outstanding contribution in working with partners to address trafficking victims’ needs and bringing offenders to justice. Stefan was also recognized by the Eco-Business A-List 2020: Sustainability Leadership in the time of Covid-19 for his tireless work in caring for underprivileged communities during Covid-19 pandemic.
