JIWARI BIN ABDULLAH
Mr. Jiwari Bin Abdullah is the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Department with Sarawak Energy Berhad, an energy utility industry. The department under him covers three major functions which consist of Social Investment and Community Development, Sustainability and Community Relations.
He has extensive experience in community engagement with rural indigenous communities in Sarawak especially those affected by the hydropower projects. He leads the department to play its role of community engagement and consultation in particular for the communities who are impacted by our projects. These affected communities were successfully resettled. He continues to facilitate the livelihood restoration efforts with the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for these communities. He emphasises on continuous support in socio economic aspects with the community investment initiatives and development such as literacy programmes, handicraft and entrepreneurial development, education for young people, technical skills for rural youths and many other sustainable CSR initiatives and supports.
Under his stewardship, Sarawak Energy has produced the Sustainability Reports for the past 2 years, the first utility company in the country that produced sustainability report that evidently shows the journey of embedding sustainability practices, the progress and achievements towards a world class power utility company in adopting sustainable and good practices in our business.
His current roles as Head of Corporate Social Responsibility includes embedding the International Hydropower Association (IHA) best practice, an assessment protocol and lead the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol (HSAP) for Sarawak Energy, a tool to measure and guide performance in the hydropower development.
